For years, I lived a double life. By day, I worked at a school. On the side, I ran my own alterations business.

Because people knew I sewed, I was constantly stopped by colleagues, friends, and clients asking for help. They’d ask: "How do I get my hems that perfect?" or "I bought a sewing machine, but I'm too terrified to take it out of the box... where do I start?"

I saw how desperately these women wanted to create, but I also knew how incredibly frustrating it was to learn.

Whenever I needed to learn a new technique, I would search online and find myself falling down one YouTube rabbit hole after another. One video would show part of the process, another would use confusing jargon, and I was left trying to piece a puzzle together with half the pieces missing.

I remember sitting at my machine, feeling completely stuck, thinking: "Why does this have to be so hard? If I have years of experience and I'm still struggling, no wonder so many beginners give up before they even start."

In those moments, my instinct was always to pick up the phone and call my Mother. She was the one who taught me. She always had the answer.

But today, she has Alzheimer’s, and she can no longer guide me.

That realization broke my heart, but it also sparked a mission. I realized that if I wanted to preserve this beautiful, creative skill and make it accessible, I had to step up and build the roadmap myself.

I started designing patterns and recording video lessons. At first, I offered them as a monthly membership. But that taught me what beginners truly need to succeed.
